BECOSOLAR are one of the UK’s longest established designers and installers of Photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems. With over 20 years experience, we specialise in PV systems for industrial, commercial marine & domestic uses; manufacturing our own range of controllers and building custom PV power supplies Beco are Project Partners and Distributors for BP Solar, Nu-Lok, Romag and Sharp as well as being Distributors for Exide batteries, Rolls batteries and Morningstar regulators.

What are the BENEFITS of PV?
A typical 2.0kWp (kilowatt peak) PV system will occupy an area of 16m² and if south-facing at a pitch of 35°will generate around 1,800 kWh/annum. The installed costs vary according to style and size but are typically in the range of £3750 to £6500 per kWp.
PV on the roof is a very stylish way of generating some, if not all, of a building’s electricity requirements with no running costs and no pollution, indeed every Kilowatt hour of solar electricity you produce will save approximately 0.56 Kg of CO2 . A typical household, careful with it’s use of electricity, should be self-sufficient over a year with a 3kWp system and save nearly 1.4 tonnes of C02.
With the introduction of the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) there is now a significant financial benefit to generating renewable electricity.
The FIT will pay for all units generated, regardless of the amount used on site or exported to the grid.
For PV systems the rates will be paid for 25 years:
Up to 4kwp: new build 36.1p per unit; existing buildings 41.3p.
For both new build & existing buildings, between 4 – 10kWp 36.1p, and between 10 – 100kWp 31.4p.
For wind turbines between 1.5 – 15kW the rate will be 26.7p for 20 years.
The figures, which will be index linked to the RPI, are set to provide a return on investment of between 7% and 9% and in some cases more.
When there is demand in a building the PV system or wind turbine supplies the demand. When there is no demand the output feeds to the grid.
There are three sources of revenue for generators:
The FIT, payable on all units generated
The value of the units you use and therefore don’t buy from the grid
The amount your electricity supplier pays for exported units – to be standardised at 3p per unit when the FIT begins in April.
If you would you like to install a clean, silent, maintenance free electricity generator on the roof of a house, office or community building, and invest in a better future please contact us.
